CHESTER, Pa. – A rainy final day on Hansell Track ends in a second-place finish for the Widener Men's Track and Field team at the 2024 MAC Outdoor Championships.

DAY 1 (Thursday | 1st Place | 26 Points)
Tom Flear captured gold in the 10k run with a time of 31.02.33 to earn 10 points. Joining Flear in the top eight was
Pat Carolan. Carolan clocked in at 31:57.28.
In the 4x800 relay, the Pride would earn one point and an eighth-place finish. The quad of
Michael Carolan,
Ben Miller,
Gavin Kelly, and
David Johnson would run a 8:20.60.
In the hammer throw,
Conrad Howell nabbed a silver medal with a 53.53-meter throw.
David Waters also joined Howell in the top eight with a sixth-place finish with a 47.59-meter throw.
DAY 2 (Friday | 2nd Place | 37 Points)
Sam Knowles clocked in a first-place preliminary time in the 400-meter dash with a 48.09.
Brion McNear also qualified for finals with a 49.32 to be seeded sixth.
Josh Schreiner and
Derek Rudd would also compete with times finishing in a 50.73 and 51.75.
Jonathan David took to the track in the 800-meter run where he would run a 1:59.19.
In the 110-meter hurdles,
Tristen Silverstein would place 9
th with a 16.52.
Knowles would qualify for his second finals in the 200-meter dash where he was seeded third with a 21.84. Schreiner would race in at a 24.31.
David would qualify for the finals in the 400-meter hurdles with a 55.67. Silverstein and Miller would join him in the competition and clock in a 58.01 and 58.12.
Joe Nescio would place 10
th in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a final time of 9:52.01.
Isaiah Brewer would finish in a 10:36.44.
Matayo McGraw would earn a silver in the high jump with a 1.90-meter height.
McGraw continued his field performance in the long jump where he would mark a 6.57-meter distance to place sixth.
Jacob Grossman would mark a 5.94-meter jump and
Alex Stempin would mark a 5.91-meter jump.
DAY 3 (SATURDAY | 2nd Place | 101 Points)
In the finals of the 400-meter dash, Knowles displayed his speed with a new Widener record. Knowles clocked in a 47.06 with a new personal best time and a time just shy of the conference record. He would also rank eighth in the nation.
The 5000-meter run would feature Flear and Carolan once more. Flear ran to silver medal and finished in a 14:56.80. Carolan placed fifth with a 15:03.58.
Knowles 200-meter final ended with a bronze medal and a final time of 21.88.
David's final in the 400-meter hurdles would result in a fifth-place finish. He would clock in a 57.19.
In the final race of the meet, the Pride would capture gold in the 4x400 relay. The quad of McNear, Rudd, Schreiner, and Knowles would finish in a 3:18.19.
Aidan Wilson placed sixth in the pole vault with a height of 3.92-meters.
McGraw took home gold in the triple jump with a 14.95-meter distance. McGraw currently sits at sixth in the nation.
Waters' shot put attempts would place him fourth with a 13.97-meter best throw. Howell also marked a 12.76-meter throw.
Stempin threw a 47.19-meter throw in the javelin with a event best in the final attempt.
