CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Athletics had their second annual Faculty-Advisor Recognition Luncheon this past Wednesday, April 24. This year's event was held in Lathem Hall.

Among the speakers at the luncheon included Director of Athletics Jack Shafer, Associate Athletics Director and Senior Women Administrator Larissa Gillespie, Widener President Dr. Stacey Robertson, and Provost Dr. Andy Workman.

The Athletic Faculty Advisor program is designed to support student-athletes by increasing communication and strengthening connections among student-athletes, coaches, and faculty. By creating a stronger network around the student-athletes, the goal is to maximize the potential for each student-athlete to achieve excellence in both academic and athletic pursuits.

Widener Athletics currently has 18 faculty advisors that are part of the fall, winter, and spring sports programs. For their contributions, each advisor was given a plaque that read "Certificate of Service as a Faculty Athletic Advisor."
