CHESTER, Pa. – Widener University Athletics welcomes Kevin Bolton to its staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.
 
Bolton joins Widener after serving as a head athletic trainer at Ursinus College since 2024. In that role, he has worked with the Ursinus football program while also providing athletic training services for the school's track and field and baseball programs.
 
Prior to his time at Ursinus, Bolton spent three years with the American Athletic Conference from 2021 to 2024, serving as an injury replay supervisor for Temple University football. His experience also includes extensive work in orthopedic and sports medicine settings.
 
Bolton worked with Premier Surgical Orthopedics from 2016 to 2022, serving in multiple capacities including outreach athletic trainer at Friends' Central School, orthopedic physician assistant and physical therapist aide. He also worked as an athletic trainer and medical assistant with Premier Surgical Orthopedics of West Chester from 2022 through March of 2024.
 
During his time working with Friends' Central School and Premier Surgical Orthopedics, Bolton implemented new protocols for concussions and return-to-learn and return-to-play procedures. He also revamped the school's Emergency Action Plan, modernized electronic health history and records, helped oversee rehabilitation equipment and taught first aid and CPR.
 
Bolton began his career in athletic training with Aspire Sports Medicine, serving as an outreach athletic trainer at Friends' Central School from 2014 to 2016.
 
Bolton holds several professional certifications, including his Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers credential, Pennsylvania state athletic training license and CPR/AED certification for professional rescuers. He is also a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and earned an ASOP Orthopedic Casting and Bracing Certification in 2023.
 
Throughout his career, Bolton has emphasized patient care, education and health promotion while developing strong clinical and interpersonal skills. His professional background includes experience with clinical procedures, therapeutic and orthopedic devices, electronic health records and sports medicine.
 
A graduate of Temple University, Bolton earned his degree in kinesiology in 2014. He previously earned a degree in liberal arts from Montgomery County Community College in 2010.
