CHESTER, Pa. – This week marks a celebration for Widener Athletics and many other collegiate-athletic programs. From April 1-7, Widener Athletics will be celebrating its annual Division III Week.
D3 Week is a week used as, "… a positive opportunity for all individuals associated with Division III to observe and celebrate the impact of athletics and of student-athletes on the campus and surrounding community." This celebration was originally part of a larger program, entitled Division III's Identity Initiative. The latter was introduced in 2010.
Throughout the week, Widener Athletics will feature a variety of programming to showcase its student-athletes while honing in on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), mental health in student-athletes, and sportsmanship. This week in Widener, baseball plays on Wednesday, April 3rd and 5th, men's lacrosse plays on Saturday, April 6, and softball on Sunday, April 7.
