CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Distance specialist
Sean Lehan added 18 points in a win over Washington College to remain unbeaten in the dual meet season.
The 154-108 win moves the Pride to 7-0 in the regular season with a first-place finish at the midseason invitational.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Out of the gate, the Pride took a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with
Patrick Rauch,
Dan Jackson, Matt Niro, and
Kyle Cantrell touching in a 1:38.30.
First year
Sean Lehan stepped up big in the 1000-yard freestyle to take first overall with a 10:17.59 to better his season best.
Adam Bailey snuck into third with a 10:51.29.
Jackson put up a 1:46.18 to win the 200-yard freestyle by a second and a half.
Michael Machristie and
Shane Hubbard took a 2-3 finish in the 100-yard breaststroke to earn seven points for the team. Machristie finished in a 1:02.59 while Hubbard clocked a 1:05.74.
A gamble in the 200-yard butterfly paid off as
Alex Chan led a 1-2 finish for a 13-6 point swing. Chan touched in a 1:57.75 while
Jason Mongiovi dropped his best season time of a 2:02.95 for second.
Another big first came in the 50-yard freestyle as Cantrell took first by 0.07 with a 22.00.
Out of the first break,
Shane Douthit's outside charge for first helped pull Chan in for big points.
Zach Delgado would take fourth in a needed out touch. Douthit dropped a 49.00, Chan a 49.18, and Delgado put in a 49.81.
A 2:01.66 from Rauch in the 200-yard backstroke would have him finish second.
Jackson captured first in the 200-yard breaststroke by three seconds with a 2:10.88. Machristie (2:16.53) and Hubbard (2:22.07) took 3-4.
Lehan struck another first in the 500-yard freestyle. The distance specialist swam a season best 4:57.58 for first by five seconds. Mongiovi (5:10.65) and Bailey (5:16.46) would pick up the tail end points with a 3-4 finish.
Chan took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a 52.11.
Jackson put down the hammer in the 200-yard individual medley to help seal the meet with a 1:59.25.
Seth Phillips clocked a 2:03.89 for fourth.
The Pride wrapped up the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Chan,
Joshua Cunningham, Niro, and Cantrell put up a team best 1:28.10.

Widener takes a break from the pool until after the new year and will return on Saturday, Jan. 11 for a 3 p.m. meet against Lebanon Valley in Annville, Pa.
