CHESTER, Pa. – Women's Basketball dominated the entire game against the Penn State Brandywine Nittany lions to secure their second victory in a row.
The Pride improve to 6-4 on the season and remain 0-0 in conference play.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Mia Robbins posts her fifth double-double in a row, totaling 24 points and 10 rebounds.
- Kaitlyn Kearney had her best game of the season for the Pride totaling 13 points, 8 rebounds, and shooting 3-6 from three.
- Mary McFillin was a defensive monster for Widener totaling 4 blocks and 2 steals on the day.
- Widener had 30 offensive rebounds on the day and scored 24 second chance points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pride would come out of the gates slow, falling behind 6-2 through the first four minutes of play. Widener used a timeout and were able to get things rolling as they went on a 17-1 run to close out the quarter. Kaitlyn Kearney and Mary McFillin played crucial roles during this stretch, both hitting three to give the pride all the momentum.
- During the second quarter, The Pride offense would cool off, scoring 11 points in the quarter. Giada Palmeri was huge for the Pride in this quarter, converting on 4-5 of her free throws. While the Pride offense had slowed down, the defense kept up the intensity limiting the Nittany Lions to only nine points in the quarter.
- The Nittany Lions began to find a rhythm on offense in the third quarter, scoring 17 points. But the pride were able to hold them off finding their shot again on offense and putting up 18. Kearney and McFillin once again came both hitting shots from three. Mia Robbins started to get in going in the third, scoring 6 points for the Pride.
- The fourth quarter started off with Mia Robbins hitting two free throws immediately followed by a Kearney three ball to extend Widener's lead even further. Robbins would continue to dominate for the rest of the quarter putting up seven during the final frame. The game would end with a final score of 67-48.

The Pride will return from break on Saturday, January 4
th as they travel to Collegeville, Pa. to take on 7-3 Ursinus College. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
