CHESTER, Pa. – Sapnas helps Widener Women's Swimming down FDU-Florham in the Schwartz Athletic Center for the first time since 2010.
The 116-89 win moves the Pride to 3-3 in the regular season with a 3-1 MAC record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The quad of
Sophia Sapnas,
Hailey Webster,
Sally Meyers, and
Lauren Kalsbeek took first in the 200-yard medley relay. The four won with a 1:56.34 by four seconds.
An event later Meyers would lead a 1-2 finish in the 1000-yard freestyle. Meyers clocked in an 11:32.25 while averaging 34 seconds per 50-yards.
Jenna Angelucci took second with an 11:51.61 while averaging 35 second 50s.
First year
Megan Shallow helped the Pride to a 2-3 finish in the 200-yard freestyle where she finished second in a 2:02.97.
Olivia Giambalvo finished third with a 2:10.46.
Kalsbeek saw her first individual win in the 200-yard individual medley. She would take first by over a second with a 2:17.43. The Pride would go 1-3 in the event with
Olivia Barclay coming in with a 2:26.41.
Meyers led another 1-2 charge in the 200-yard butterfly. She hit the wall in a 2:19.05 while
Kaitlyn Fahy hit in a 2:27.44.
Sapnas took seconds in the 200-yard backstroke with a .13 first place differential. She hit in a 2:20.84 to begin the 2-3-4 finish. Angelucci snuck in with a 2:21.83 while
Caroline Anderson finished with a 2:22.10.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Kalsbeek captured first in a 5:33.76 to lead in
Kaitlyn Beden who touched in a 6:08.27.
The final race of the afternoon came with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The quad of Webster, Giambalvo, Shallow, and Downs raced to a 1:47.03. Sapnas, Anderson,
Tyla Block, and Barclay swam a 1:49.75.
