CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Women's Swimming in their season opener to Scranton in the Schwartz Athletic Center.
The Pride fell 182-79 to move to 0-1 in the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
To open the meet,
Sophia Sapnas,
Hailey Webster,
Sally Meyers, and
Lauren Kalsbeek took second in the 200-yard medley relay. The quad would clock in a 1:56.92 to open their season.
A couple of events later,
Caroline Anderson would take first for the first individual event win for the Pride in the 50-yard backstroke. Anderson clocked in a 30.29 leading Sapnas who finished in third with a 30.65.
Sally Meyers took second in the 100-yard butterfly with a final time of 1:02.89. Meyers would split out a 28.78 to lead the entire race.
The next individual event, Kalsbeek secured her first of the meet in the 50-yard freestyle. Kalsbeek led with a 25.70. Out of the break, Kalsbeek took second in the 100-yard freestyle with a final time of 58.25.
First year
Megan Shallow took third with a 58.33 in her first collegiate individual race.
Sapnas took second in the 100-yard backstroke with a 1:05.66 to finish just behind Markatos from Scranton.
Meyers took another second in 50-yard butterfly as she clocked in a 28.74.
Capping the meet was the quad of Meyers, Shallow, Webster, and Kalsbeek in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The four would finish in a 3:53.55 to split the relay points.
