CHESTER, Pa. – In the final dual meets of the season, Widener Women's Swimming celebrated their senior class and split results against Ramapo and Misericordia.
The Pride took a 178-78 win over Ramapo and a 179-79 win over Misericordia to end the season 9-1 and 5-0 in the MAC. The 9-1 season marks the best season finish since 2016-17.
Matthew Niro,
Dan Jackson,
Jason Mongiovi, and
Shane Douthit open the meet with a dominating win in the 200-yard medley relay. The quad would win by five seconds in a 1:37.75.
In the 1000-yard free,
Adam Bailey led a 2-3 finish with teammate
Michael Machristie. Bailey touched in a 10:57.06 while Machristie touched in 11:00.74.
Jadyn Manning took first in the 200-yard free. Manning would win with an out touch in the final strokes with a 1:51.24.
Patrick Rauch and
Shane Douthit added another 2-3 finish in the 100-yard backstroke. Rauch would lead with a 56.70 and Douthit finished close behind in a 58.59.
Breaststroke specialist Jackson took first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a dominating 11 second win touching in a 1:00.94.
Shane Hubbard took third in a 1:05.90 for an out touch by 0.03.
The Pride earned big points after a 1-2 finish in the 200-yard butterfly. Niro led the charge in a 2:04.77 while
Joshua Cunningham took second in a 2:11.42.
Douthit took second with a 22.16 as Manning took third in a 22:25 in the 50-yard free.
Out of the break, the Pride took a 1-2-3 win in the 100-yard free. Jackson led with a 49.42 while Cunningham touched in a 50.58 and
Marcus Moreef took third with a 52.66.
Mongiovi took second in the 200-yard backstroke in a 2:03.43 while Rauch continued his backstroke racing with a third in 2:04.80.
Jackson added another individual win in the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:16.89 to lead Machristie in a 2:18.87.
Senior
Gavin Franklin took a second in the 500-yard free. Franklin registered a 5:17.81 to comfortably fit in the middle.
Niro and Mongiovi took 1 and 2 in the 100-yard butterfly. Niro touched in a 53.24 while Mongiovi touched in a 53.89.
Patrick Rankin took a come from behind win in the final individual race of the meet in the 200-yard individual medley. Rankin touched in a 2:06.83 to with by only half a second.
In the final relay, the quad of Cunningham, Manning, Douthit, and Mongiovi charged to a five second win in the 200-yard free relay. The four would clock a 1:28.10.

Widener heads to the MAC Championships from Thursday to Sunday, Feb. 15 to 18. MAC Championships are set to be contested at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pa. More information will be released by the conference office in the coming future.
