Men’s Lacrosse Looking to Make Noise in the Postseason Versus Messiah Falcons

The Pride Hold the #4 Seed

CHESTER, Pa. – Widener men's lacrosse enters the playoffs as the #4 seed in their first season under head coach Robb Chambers. They will host the Messiah University Falcons in the quarterfinals.

Widener put together an 8-8 season and a 5-3 record in conference play. Six of their ten wins came on their home field. The Pride head into this game with two wins in their last three.

Messiah had an 11-6 regular-season record with a 4-4 conference record. They were 8-1 in road games, with the one loss stemming from Widener.

The Pride and the Falcons played each other in Chester last Monday, April 24. Widener won 12-9 in a low-scoring affair. Senior Connor Heisman put four goals in the net to lead the Pride to victory.

Heisman's 57 goals were second-most in the MAC Commonwealth, just behind York's Will Harnick (62). Heisman had a season-high seven goals against Arcadia on March 25. He led Widener in assists (24), points (81), shots on goal and shots (111/175), and ground balls (42). He started 15 of 16 games played.

First-year Samuel Haverstrom made a big impact in his debut season for Widener. Starting 11 of 16 games played in, Haverstrom was third on the team in goals (29) and points (38). Fifty-eight of his 87 shots were on goal (both of which were second-most for the Pride). He had a career-high four goals against Albright on April 12.

The winner of this game will play on the road on Wednesday to face the York College Spartans, who finished the regular season with a seven-game winning streak. That game would start at 7 p.m.
