CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Athletics will help to break the stigma of mental health with multiple upcoming Pride home events.
Widener Athletics' Break the Stigma will begin with the Widener Invitational on Friday, April 21. Break the Stigma will continue to be observed during the week of April 24.
The track and field athletes will wear green ribbons during the two-day event. Green ribbons are the common symbol of spreading mental-health awareness. Men will wear the ribbon on the front, while the women will wear it on the back. Softball, baseball, and men's and women's lacrosse will have green ribbons on their helmets and/or sticks. Mental-health stickers will be handed out to fans attending home events during the week as well.
Mental Health Awareness Month is observed every May, and it has been observed year since 1949.
