Widener Men’s Swimming Capture 10-of-11 Firsts on Saturday’s Dual Meet at Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. – A short meet lineup for Widener Men's Swimming ends in a dominating victory on the road.
 
The 140-42 win puts the Pride at 4-1 in the regular season and keeps the Pride undefeated at 3-0 in MAC meets.
 
The Pride open the meet with a top performance in the 200-yard medley relay. The quad of Isaiah Moreef, Joshua Cunningham, Dan Jackson, and Jaydn Manning would register a 1:42.33.
 
Jason Mongiovi, the distance specialist, would touch first in the 1000-yard free with a final time of 10:22.44 to lead a 1-2-3 charge from Michael Machristie and Shane Hubbard.
 
Junior Shane Douthit would capture the 200-yard free with a 1:49.81 to win by a second.
 
In a first of the season, Dan Jackson took first in the 400-yard individual medley with Adam Bailey taking second. Jackson would clock a 4:23.11 while Bailey took a 4:44.29.
 
Manning captured a second first place mark with a 54.84 in the 100-yard butterfly with Hubbard taking third in a 57.34.
 
Matt Niro led a 1-2 finish in the 100-yard free with a 49.28. Sean Hourican marked a 54.70.
 
Pat Rankin captured the 100-yard backstroke with a 57.96 to mark a new season best.
 
In another long-distance race, Jackson would lead another 1-2-3 win with a 5:00.91 as Douthit and Marcus Moreef would follow. Douthit's 5:18.83 and Moreef's 5:41.59 would mark season bests as well.
 
The final individual event resulted in Mongiovi taking first in the 100-yard breaststroke. Mongiovi would touch in a 1:01.88 to lead into the 1-2 finish in the final relay. The team of Niro, Manning, Cunningham, and Mongiovi would touch in a 1:29.52.

Widener returns to the pool next weekend for their midseason invitational in Dallas, Pa. The Cougar Splash is set for Friday, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18 hosted by Misericordia University.
