CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener men's lacrosse team used a four-goal third quarter, with three goals coming in less than 40 seconds, to top Hood, 9-7, on Saturday night in MAC Commonwealth play at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium.
With the win, the Pride improved to 3-6 on the season and 1-1 in MAC Commonwealth games.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST HOOD
- Trailing, 5-4, at halftime, the Pride came out firing in the third quarter, receiving the tying goal from Zach Politarhos with 12:14 left. Then, the Pride saw Aegean Cuylan, Adam Oldrati and Angus Balentine fire in back-to-back-to-back goals in 39 seconds from the 8:43 mark to the 8:04 mark to put the team ahead 8-5. Cuylan scored off a Nick DiCicco assist, Oldrati scored nine seconds later by winning the face-off and going straight to goal for the score, and Balentine scored 21 seconds later.
- In the fourth quarter, the Blazers cut the Pride's lead to one with 5:06 left. However, DiCicco put the Pride back up by two with a goal with 3:02 left.
- DiCicco and Connor Heisman led the Pride with three points apiece after each of them had two goals and one assist. Jayce Dyer also scored a goal in the win.
- Defensively, Keegan Billie made nine saves in the win. Oldrati paced the Pride with four ground balls and won 8-of-17 face-offs.

The Pride will hit the road to face Messiah in another MAC Commonwealth game. Face-off is set for 6 p.m.
