CHESTER, Pa.  – The Widener men's lacrosse team played tough against Eastern, but it could not open MAC Commonwealth play with a victory as the Eagles came away with a 15-13 win on Wednesday night at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium.
 
With the loss, the Pride dropped to 2-6 on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST EASTERN
	- After the Eagles jumped out to a 5-2 lead with 7:12 left in the first quarter, the Pride overcame the three-goal deficit by scoring six of the next seven goals to take an 8-6 lead with 11:51 remaining in the second quarter. Connor Heisman, Zach Politarhos, Nick DiCicco, Drew Venit, Michael Tagliaferri and Bryant Maits each scored during the run.
 
	- After Eastern put in two goals to tie the game, the Pride flung in two of their own to take a 10-8 halftime lead after Politarhos scored his second goal of the game and Jayce Dyer netted a goal.
 
	- In the third quarter, the Pride received goals from Heisman and Jimmy Knepp, but Eastern scored three times to cut the lead to 12-11.
 
	- In the fourth, the Eagles scored four goals, including the go-ahead goal with 1:50 left and the insurance goal with 25 seconds remaining to pick up the win.
 
	- Heisman had a hat trick and three points for the Pride. The senior attack now has 23 games with three or more goals in his career.
 
	- Politarhos and Tagliaferri had three points apiece after both had two goals and one assist.
 
	- Defensively, Keegan Billie made 12 saves in the defeat. Mario Scotese paced the Pride with five ground balls and won 9-of-22 faceoffs.

The Pride will return to action Saturday when they host Hood in another MAC Commonwealth game. Face-off is set for 7 p.m.
