CHESTER, Pa. –
Connor Heisman fired in five goals and handed out three assists while leading the Widener men's lacrosse team to a 20-9 victory over the University of New England in its World Down Syndrome Awareness Day game on Saturday afternoon at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium.
With the win, the Pride are 2-5 on the season. The Blue and Gold also snapped a five-game losing streak.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND
- The Pride got back on the winning track by dominating on the offensive end, scoring 10 goals in each half to post their largest scoring output of the season. The Pride also had season highs in assists (11), shots (57) and shots on goal (40).
- Heisman had a hat trick and assisted on two other goals in the second half. The senior attack now has 22 games with three or more goals in his career.
- Matt Buckley also had a hat trick for the Pride. Michael Tagliaferri, Mike Kala'l, and Angus Ballentine scored two goals apiece.
- Adam Oldrati owned the face-off X, winning 14-of-22 attempts (63.6 percent). In addition, the junior picked up a game-high 11 ground balls.
- The Pride celebrated World Down Syndrome Day by wearing commemorative mismatched socks and raising funds in honor of Sydney Gelman, the niece of Zach Politarhis, and Gabe Lockwood, the nephew of athletic trainer A.J. Duffy, III, who have been affected with the genetic disorder.

The Pride will be off for the next 10 days until they host Eastern in their first MAC Commonwealth game of the season on Wednesday, March 30. Face-off is set for 7 p.m.
