CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener women's basketball team continued its hot streak, winning its fifth straight game by rolling to a convincing 82-53 victory over Albright on Wednesday night in its MAC Commonwealth contest at Schwartz Athletic Center.
The Pride are now 13-6 overall and 9-3 in MAC Commonwealth play. The Pride also swept the season series against Albright and posted their largest margin of victory against the Lions in the all-time series against them (29 points).
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ALBRIGHT
- Nicole Barnes, Jordan D'Ambrosio, Erin Phelan, Charlotte Stern and Jasmine Franklin each scored in double figures for the Pride. Barnes led the way with 19 points, while D'Ambrosio followed with 16, Phelan put in 14, Stern supplied 12, and Franklin had 10, respectively.
- After battling back and forth with the Lions through the first five minutes of the first quarter, the Pride broke a 10-all tie by ending the period on a 13-4 run to take a 23-14 lead. Barnes paved the way for the Pride by scoring nine points in the frame, including seven in the team's 13-4 run.
- In the second quarter, Widener put up another 20-point quarter to take a 43-29 lead at halftime.
- After edging Albright, 18-15, in the third, the Pride pulled away for good by outscoring the Lions, 21-9, in the fourth. Franklin and Barnes combined for 11 of the team's 21 points in the final period.
- By scoring 82 points, the Pride still have the No. 1 ranked offense in the MAC Commonwealth, as they increased their average to 67.5 points per game.
