CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener men's volleyball team got back in the win column by defeating Immaculata in straight sets, 25-13, 25-22, 25-19, on Thursday night at Schwartz Athletic Center.
With the victory, the Pride improved to 3-4 on the young season.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST IMMACULATA
- Matthew Christ had another strong performance for the Pride, tallying 15 kills. The first-year from Newfoundland, N.J. is currently third in the MAC in kills per set with 3.29.
- Josh Matchett led the Pride in assists with 29 and digs with nine. The junior setter currently ranks seventh in the MAC in assists with 183.
- The Pride dominated the first set, as they posted 12 kills and a match-high .354 hitting percentage.
- In the second game, the Blue and Gold were in a tight battle with the Mighty Macs, as they were clinging to a 23-22 lead. But, Ethan Cox tallied one of his five kills and Dylan Beer notched the final point of the game by making an emphatic block on an Immaculata attack attempt.
- Leading, 19-18, in the third game, the Pride managed to put the Mighty Macs away by going on a 6-1 run to take the match. Christ had seven of his 15 kills in the final game, with two of them occurring during WU's final run to seal the victory. Matchett assisted on both of Christ's kills during that run.

Widener will be back in action next Tuesday when it hosts Eastern in MAC play. First serve is set for 8 p.m.
