CHESTER, Pa. - Junior
Jordan D'Ambrosio poured in a game-high 16 points while leading the Widener women's basketball team to its eighth straight victory by earning a 79-65 win over Alvernia in a MAC Commonwealth matchup Tuesday night at the Schwartz Athletic Center.
With the win, the Pride are now 16-6 overall and 12-3 in MAC Commonwealth play. The Pride are currently in a tie for second place in the conference with York.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ALVERNIA
- After playing a tight game with the Golden Wolves through three quarters in which they only held a 53-46 lead, the Pride managed to put them away in the fourth quarter by outscoring them, 26-19. D'Ambrosio played a huge part in Widener's strong fourth quarter, scoring 12 of her 16 points.
- Along with D'Ambrosio, four other Pride players tallied double figures, as Erin Phelan scored 14 points, Mikayla Nicolini followed with 13, Nicole Barnes had 11 and Charlotte Stern chipped in 10.
- Barnes led the team with 12 rebounds to notch her second double-double of the season and third one of her career. The Garnet Valley, Pa. native also led the team in steals with three.
- The Pride dominated the paint, as they outscored Alvernia, 48-38, in that category.
- By scoring 79 points, the Pride still have the No. 1 ranked offense in the MAC Commonwealth, as they now average 68.6 points per game.

The Pride finish the regular season this Saturday WHEN they host No. 11 Messiah in big MAC Commonwealth showdown. A win over Messiah would allow Widener to earn the second seed for the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Tournament. The game against Messiah, which is also Senior Day, will tip off at 1 p.m.
