CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener men's volleyball team fought hard in its second match of the season, but came up short in a four-set defeat against Kean, 25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 25-8, on Tuesday night at Schwartz Athletic Center.
With the loss, the Pride dropped to 1-1 on the young season.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST KEAN
- After dropping a tough 25-23 battle in the first game, the Pride came back to secure a win in the second set, 25-20. In that game, the Pride broke an 11-all tie by going on a 14-9 run to take the set.
- In the third game, the Pride and the Cougars were knotted at 12 before the Cougars went on a 13-6 run to win the game, 25-18. Kean carried that momentum into the fourth game and won it, 20-8, to seal the win.
- Josh Matchett led the Pride in assists with 23 on the night.
- Ethan Cox and Josh Matchett both had a team-high seven kills for the Blue and Gold.
- Defensively, Cole Nagle put in great effort, making 12 digs.
UP NEXT
Widener will host Arcadia and Randolph-Macon in a tri-match on Saturday. The Pride will face Arcadia their first Middle Atlantic Conference contest of the year at 11 a.m., then will take on Randolph-Macon in a non-conference match at 3 p.m.
