Arlington, Va. – The Widener women's basketball team hit the road this past weekend for another tournament at hosted by Marymount University. The Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament featured Marymount, Oberlin, Middlebury, and Widener playing in various games throughout the weekend.
The Pride faced off against Middlebury on Friday and Oberlin on Saturday. The ladies fought hard but came up empty handed with two losses. After the losses, the Pride move to 1-4 in the regular season and still await a MAC Commonwealth contest.
Game 1 vs Middlebury College
The Pride's first game of the weekend featured the Middlebury Panthers in a late tip-off game. After the first quarter, the Pride led the Panthers 14-12, outshooting by nearly 20%. Following the first, the Panther's found their groove and pulled a 66-39 victory. Leading the Pride in points was first year Lindsay Kutz tallying 14 baskets. Kutz also the team in rebounds with five. The team shot 16 of 58 and found 18 of their total points in the paint.
Game 2 vs Oberlin College
The Blue and Gold's second game featured the Oberlin Yeo in a 5:30 p.m. tip. The women found themselves in a close matchup until the fourth when Oberlin pulled away. Going into the fourth quarter, the Pride found themselves down one. Senior
Jordan D'Ambrosio led the team in points with 18 while teammate Mia Robbins followed closely behind with 14. From the bench, Mary McFillin found three points and three rebounds. The team shot 14 of 46 from the floor and 1 of 10 from the three-point line.
D'Ambrosio was named All-Tournament team after her two-game performance. She totaled 23 points and four rebounds.
