CHESTER, Pa. – Widener women's swimming splits Saturday's dual meet victories against Salisbury and Cabrini in a full dual meet event lineup.
After the split, the Pride move to 6-3 in the regular season and remains 3-1 in MAC rankings.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST SALISBURY AND CABRINI
- The Pride start the meet with a second place split with Salisbury and Cabrini consisting of Sophia Sapnas, Anna Durboraw, Olivia Downs, and Azaria Luckey. With the second place, the Blue and Gold earn four points and a finals time of 1:58.66.
- Junior Sally Meyers found a second place and a top dual meet time in the MAC in the 1000 free with a time of 11:24.40. Meyer's found a rhythm and settled into a string of 34 second 50 splits.
- Teammate Gabby DiGiovanni found a third place finish in the 200 free in a 2:07.99.
- In the 100 backstroke, Sapnas hit the wall with a final time of 1:03.93 to earn a second place.
- The next event in the 100 breaststroke, Durboraw snuck a third place just out touching a Salisbury swimmer to save a 1-2-3 finish from the Seagulls. The sophomore hit the wall in a 1:16.33.
- The Pride's only individual event win came in the 200 butterfly where Meyers found a winning time of 1:58.98 just out touching a Salisbury swimmer by less than a second.
- Right before the break Luckey sprinted a 26.31 in the 50 free to place third.
- A few events after the first break, Sapnas saved a 1-2 finish in the 200 backstroke with a 2:22.25.
- To close out the meet, the Pride found another second place in the 400 freestyle relay. The relay team of Downs, Luckey, DiGiovanni, and Meyers registered a 3:55.98.

Widener women's swimming hits the road next Friday and Saturday to Dallas, Pa. where they swim in their midseason invitational. Misericordia's Cougar Splash is set for three sessions spread over two days of competition.
