CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener University women's swimming team pick up two victories and a loss in a quad meet on Saturday against Messiah University, King's College, and Hood College. Saturday afternoon's quad meet wraps up the Pride's first two home meets of the season.
The Pride's two victories and one loss put the women's record to 4-1 on the regular season and 3-1 in the Middle Atlantic Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED IN THE SCHWARTZ CENTER
- The women opened strong with a 2nd place in the 200-medley relay (Sophia Sapnas, Caitlin Blaum, Mary Sanders, Olivia Downs) in a time of 1:58.88.
- Sally Meyers gets the Pride off to its' first individual victory in the 1000 free (11:29.08). Following closely behind is teammate Kylie Rodi to pick up third with a time of 12:23.81.
- Sophomore Lauren Kalsbeek adds to the individual win count with a first in the 50 free (25.83) and an out touch to Messiah's Mock.
- Meyers (2:20.53) and Sanders (2:28.45) pick up points with a first and third in the 200 fly.
- Kalsbeek does it again just after the first break in the schedule with another out touch in the 100 free by 0.02 seconds. Kalsbeek's time of 56.65 earned her another individual victory.
- The Pride close the meet with a 2nd place in the 200-freestyle relay (Azaria Luckey, Downs, Sanders, Kalsbeek)
- On the day, the Blue and Gold pick up a 152-24 win against King's College, a 138-49 win against Hood College, and fall to Messiah 72-131.
