Kenny Lewis scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to pace the Widener men's basketball team in its 86-73 loss to Eastern on Wednesday night in its MAC Commonwealth contest at Eastern University.
With the loss, the Pride slipped to 7-11 overall and 2-8 in MAC Commonwealth play.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST EASTERN
- Looking to avenge their 89-82 loss to the Eagles from their game back on Dec. 8 at Schwartz Athletic Center, the Pride jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first 2:15 of the half after receiving a pair of three-pointers from Steven Matlack and a three from Pat Holden. The Pride extended the lead to 10-6 almost a minute later after Jared Peters knocked down a jumper in the paint.
- However, the Eagles went on a 19-2 run over the next six-and-a-half minutes to take a 25-12 lead.
- The Pride cut the Eagles' lead down to 27-21 after Lewis made two layups and a free throw while Peters made two layups as well during a 9-2 run. However, the Eagles went on a 20-11 run to close the half and went on to earn the victory.
- With his 14-point, 12-rebound effort, Lewis posted his eighth career double-double for the Pride and third one this season.
- Along with Lewis, Holden, Matlack, Peters and Matt Daulerio each scored in double figures. Holden and Matlack had 12 points apiece, while Daulerio had 11 and Peters put in 10.
