BETHLEHEM, Pa. –
Jordan D'Ambrosio poured in 20 points and the Widener women's basketball team put together a key run in the fourth quarter to post a 69-63 win over Moravian in the first game of the Steel Club Classic on Sunday afternoon at Johnston Hall at Moravian University.
The Pride pushed their record to 8-4 overall with the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MORAVIAN
- Trailing, 59-58, with 5:45 left in the game, the Pride went on an 8-2 run over the next 3:28 to take a 66-61 lead that they would never relinquish. D'Ambrosio and Charlotte Stern each hit a three-pointer and Nicole Barnes made a jumper during the run.
- D'Ambrosio scored 12 of her 20 points in the first half, with eight of her points coming in the second quarter. The Springfield, Pa. native finished the game going 6-for-12 from the field and 6-for-7 from the free throw line while also adding six rebounds and two blocks.
- The Blue and Gold also received double figures from Barnes, Stern, and Gianna Samuels. Barnes followed D'Ambrosio with 13, while Stern and Samuels had 12 points apiece off the bench.
- Barnes also led the Pride in rebounds, assists and steals, grabbing nine rebounds, handing out five assists, and making three steals. The Garnet Valley, Pa. native's five assists gave her the lead in the MAC Commonwealth in total assists with 48 on the season.
