First Pitch
The Widener University softball team begins its MAC Commonwealth tournament run with a quarterfinal, best-of-three series against the York (Pa.) Spartans on Saturday, May 1 at 1:00 p.m.

Format
In order to alleviate multiple teams converging on one venue, the MAC has adopted a bracketed tournament for softball this year that features teams facing off in three-game series. The first two games will be a doubleheader at the site of the higher seed on Saturdays with the "if necessary" game three on Sunday at the site of the lower seed. For all three games in the series, regardless of location, the higher seeded team will play as the home team and bat second.

Widener's most recent spectator policy can be found here. Widener student-athletes are permitted two guests per game. Spectators from opposing teams will not be permitted to attend.

Haven't Seen You Around Much
Prior to York joining the MAC Commonwealth this year, the Pride and Spartans only faced off three times in the previous 12 seasons, all during spring games in Florida. 

Postseason Success
Widener has a history of turning things on when the postseason rolls around. The Pride advanced to the MAC Commonwealth championship game in 2016 and 2019 and won the title in 2017, culminating in the program's first ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Speaking Of Postseason Success
Carli Benozich and Kait Jaworski have both pitched above their career numbers in the playoffs. In 12 postseason games, Benozich is hitting .333 (10-for-30) with a .444 on-base percentage. Jaworski is 3-1 in the postseason with a 1.40 ERA in four starts. Jennifer Sieminski also has enjoyed playoff success, going 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA, striking our 22 batters in 21.0 innings during Neumann's 2019 play in the Atlantic East and ECAC Tournaments.

Who's Hot for Widener?

• Benozich is 10-for-23 (.435) in her last seven games with four multi-hit contests.
• Lindsey Cooper is batting .400 n her lst seven games with two walks and three RBI. 
• Sieminski has allowed more than two runs in a game just twice in eight April appearances, going 5-2 with a 1.83 ERA with 41 strikeouts.

Who's Hot For York?

• Alyssa Harhigh is on a 14-game hitting streak, batting .592 (29-for-49) with 16 RBI in the stretch. She has hits in 19 of 20 games for the Spartans this season with the only 0-fer coming against Widener on March 27.
• Elle Meyer has hits in 11 of her last 13 games, batting .490 (24-for-49) with nine multi-hit games during the span.
• Daphney Adams is the reigning MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week, going 8-for-12 (.667) with four doubles, a triple, and five RBI in the four games.

Milestone Watch
Sieminski has 87 strikeouts this season, needing 13 more to become just the sixth player in Widener softball history with 100 or more in a single year.
