Softball Places Five on CSC Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, In. – Widener Softball earns five spots on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District for the 2025-26 season for their excellence on the field and in the classroom.
 
The CSC Academic All-District program recognizes outstanding student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.50 GPA while competing at a high level in their respective sports. With more than 33,000 nominations submitted annually, the honor places student-athletes among the nation's elite academically and athletically. The program, established in 1952, serves as the first step toward Academic All-America® consideration.
 
Representing Widener this year is Elizabeth Carney, Jocelin Mayorga, Blake Shuler, Katelyn Tong, and Hallie Wiener.

Sophomore infielder Elizabeth Carney picked up her spot with after a season showing 36 games played and 34 games started. Carney held a .302 batting average with 26 hits, 17 RBIs, six doubles, and 10 stolen bases. The Allentown, Pa. native recorded 52 putouts for a .864 fielding percentage.

Sophomore utility Jocelin Mayorga earned Honorable Mention honors following a season where she contributed both offensively and in the circle. At the plate, Mayorga hit .268 with 22 hits, 16 RBIs, six doubles, and two home runs, highlighted by a three-hit, three-RBI game against Stevenson on April 11. In the circle, she posted a 3-5 record with a 4.02 ERA over 38.1 innings pitched, including a complete-game victory against Immaculata on April 9 where she allowed just one run.

Senior infielder Blake Shuler's contributions on the field showcase 32 games played with 30 starts and an on base percentage of .343. Shuler would register two doubles off her three hits and would steal twice. The Nazareth, Pa. native's fielding held 19 putouts for a .875 fielding percentage.

Katelyn Tong left her mark this season as a power hitting while at bat to record 36 games started and played, a .313 batting average, 31 hits, six home runs, and six doubles. Tong would bat in 22 runs while holding a near perfect .981 fielding percentage.

Sophomore pitcher Hallie Wiener recorded her stats on the mound with 35.1 innings pitched while recording 15 strikeouts in 19 appearances.
