HOW IT HAPPENED
Neither team got off to a good start as both squads shot less than 30 percent in the first quarter. Despite the sloppy play, Widener never trailed in the frame and led 13-12 after 10 minutes. The lead changed hands four times in the first six minutes of the second period before a Bachtle jumper put WU up 23-21, eventually taking a 28-26 lead into halftime.
With the score tied at 31-31 early in the third, Widener went on a 7-0 run, capped by a Schenk jumper. LVC shrunk the gap to 38-36, but the Pride used an 8-2 closing spurt to take a 46-38 lead into the final period. Widener methodically extended its advantage throughout the frame in order to pull away for the victory, thanks partly to a 9-for-14 shooting performance.
