ASTON, Pa. – Three different players scored for the Widener University field hockey team as the Pride downed the Neumann Knights 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
Scoreless after nearly 18 minutes of play, WU got on the board twice in a span of less than six minutes as
Jesse Schlosser found the back of the cage for her fifth goal of the season 2:52 into the second quarter. The Pride doubled its lead when Schlosser set up
Jackie Daniels for her fourth goal of the year at the 8:14 mark of the period.
In the second half, Widener put the game away as
Lexie Eberly sent one across the goal line for her third marker of the year.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The Pride outshot the Knights 32-2 and held a 22-1 advantage in attempts on target.
- Widener led 8-2 in penalty corners.
- With her goal and assist, Schlosser now has 15 points on the season, the top mark in the MAC Commonwealth.
- Eberly's goal was her third of the season, matching the career-high she set last year.
OF NOTE
- The win was Widener's sixth in a row to start the season, its best effort since opening 8-0 in 2007.
- It was the fourth win in row for WUFH against the Knights and 15th in their last 16 meetings.
- Eberly has now scored in each of her last two games against Neumann.
