Balanced Attack Leads @WUWBB Past Neumann for its Fifth Straight Win

CHESTER, Pa. – Four different players finished in double figures to lead the Widener University women's basketball team to its fifth straight victory on Tuesday night, defeating Neumann University 75-69.

It was a tightly contested game for all four quarters. The Pride held a slim 20-19 lead at the end of the first. A 19-18 advantage by the Knights in the second quarter forced a 38-38 deadlock at halftime. WU created a seven point deficit in the third quarter and never looked back. 13 was the largest lead of the night for the Blue and Gold. This is Widener's first time starting a season with five straight wins since the 2005-06 campaign.

First Quarter Notes:
  • Devan Rimmer scored the Pride's first five points. She also had two assists, a block, and a steal
  • Madison Ireland went for six points and two assists in the first 10 minutes
  • WU shots 100 percent from three-point range, going three-for-three
Second Quarter Notes:
  • Nicole Barnes notched three points, four boards, and a steal, coming up big for Widener off the bench
  • Tatiana Pleasant provided instant offense, getting six points in three minutes
  • The Pride went to the foul line 17 times in the quarter
Third Quarter Notes:
  • Mackenzie McCracken secured four points, two rebounds, and a steal
  • Emily Hardy contributed two points and a rebound
  • Widener shot 58 percent from the field
Fourth Quarter Notes:
  • Erin Phelan tallied four points to go along with three rebounds
  • Kyra Schenk went for three points and four boards
Game Highlights:
  • Rimmer finished with a team-high 14 points, seven assists, and three steals
  • Despite early foul trouble, Ireland had 13 points and was eight for 10 from the free throw line
  • Barnes was all over the place. The freshman recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 boards. She also led the team in steals with four.
  • McCracken added 10 points and five rebounds
  • WU outrebounded the Knights by 10
  • The Blue and Gold went 33 percent from beyond the arc
  • The reserves accounted for 25 points, while holding Neumann's bench to only one point

Widener will remain home, welcoming Marywood to the Schwartz Center on Sunday, November 25. Tip-off is scheduled for noon.
