Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Total Team Effort Leads @WUWBB Past Marywood for Sixth Straight Victory

CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University women's basketball team secured its sixth straight victory on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Marywood Pacers 84-76.

It was a total team effort for the Pride as 11 different players found the scoreboard. Per usual, Widener was effective from the foul line, hitting 75 percent of its shots. WU created a lead in the first quarter and never lost it. The bench played a major role in the win, contributing 29 points. The Blue and Gold's greatest advantage was 15 points, coming in the third quarter. Despite narrowing the Pacers narrowing the lead to three points, the Pride's staunch defense was able to hold them off. This the first time Widener has started a season 6-0 since the beginning of the NCAA era. The NCAA began sanctioning women's sports in 1981-82 (Prior to that year, women's sports were governed by the AIAW.)
