CHESTER, Pa. – Freshman
Noah Saba earned his first collegiate goal to tie the match 1-1 in the second half, however, the Widener University men's soccer team were dealt a 2-1 loss to King's College on Saturday night at the Leslie C. Quick Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a battle of the midfield on both sides for a majority of the first half.
- Widener came out strong creating two challenging opportunities inside the box within the first five minutes of play.
- The Monarch's got on the board first with a header from Kevin Mazol.
- Down 1-0 in the second half, Noah Saba fired a shot into the upper-right 90 after one-timing a deflection outside the box to tie the match 1-1 in the 62nd minute of play.
- The Pride created a few more chances towards the end of regulation, but it wasn't enough as the Monarch's goal in the 88th minute earned them the 2-1 victory.
KEEPER STATS
- Danny Thompson made six saves in the losing effort for the Pride and Owen Geedey picked up two saves in net for Kings.
UP NEXT
Widener will return to action on Sept. 27 as they take on Stevens at home. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
