Men's Soccer Earns 1-0 Victory Over Stevens

CHESTER, Pa. - Freshman Shea Morgan scored his first collegiate goal of the season to help earn the Widener University men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday evening at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Widener got on the board early with a header by Morgan who found the end of a cross inside the six just nine minutes into the first half. The assist was credited to both Mac Schailey and Noah Saba.
  • Stevens did not let down and continued to apply heavy pressure by creating eight opportunities, however, freshman Danny Thompson kept the Pride alive with two saves.
  • With five minutes remaining in the half, Stevens got a header off inside the box but Thompson prevailed again with a last-minute save to secure the 1-0 lead at the recess.
  • Stevens outshot the Pride 10-8 in the second frame, but the Widener defense proved to be more powerful as they did not allow the Ducks to find the back of the net.
KEEPER STATS
  • Thompson made a season high of eight saves in net for the Pride and Mitko Bozinov turned away five saves for the Ducks in the losing effort.
