Jenna Keating (Havertown, Pa.) made five saves as the Widener University women's soccer team battled Rutgers-Newark to a 0-0 double-overtime tie on Wednesday evening at Alumni Field. The Pride outshot the Scarlet Raiders, 16-11, but could not capitalize on their opportunities.
Widener moves to 2-1-2 on the season, while Rutgers-Newark moves to 1-4-1.
The first half was back-and-forth with the Scarlet Raiders narrowly outshooting the Pride by a count of 6-4. However, Widener came out with vengeance in the second half, dominating with a 10-3 shot advantage. Freshman
Alyssa Dionisio (Philadelphia, Pa.) played an aggressive match by tallying a team high of four shots, while Widener was able to find opportunities and forced Rutgers-Newark's Diana Carvalho to make three saves late in regulation.

Shea Scannell (Linwood, N.J.) did not give Rutgers-Newark forwards any good looks at the goal and continued to keep the opposing offense in check during the overtime sessions by only yielding two shots. Keating earned her second shutout of the season, holding the match to a scoreless decision.
The Pride will return to action on the road to face a stiff test on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7:00 p.m. when they take on ninth-ranked Swarthmore.
