Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Early Goals Lead Men's Soccer to Road Victory Over Wesley

DOVER, Del. (September 16, 2015) – Two goals in the first sixteen minutes were enough for the Widener men's soccer team as they defeated Wesley, 3-1, Wednesday evening at Drass Field.

The Pride improve to 2-3-1, while the Wolverines fall to 1-5-1.

Tori Remondelli (Point Pleasant, N.J.) opened the scoring in the eighth minute with his fourth goal of the season. The senior picked up a rebound in the box and found the right side of the net to give the Blue and Gold the advantage.

Shortly after Remondelli gave the Pride the lead, forward Eric Taylor (Bensalem, Pa.) added a goal as he cut off an attempted clearance by the defense. The senior intercepted a pass from a defender on his way to taking the ball in on a breakaway for goal.

R.J. Dina cut the lead in half with a goal on a free kick from 30 yards out in the 71st minute.

Remondelli added his second goal of the game with a penalty kick in the 89th minute. The senior midfielder recorded seven shots with four of those on target.

Widener outshot Wesley 24-14, and ten to nine on shots on goal. Taylor recorded five shots, while Kevin McKenna (North Wales, Pa.), Tommy O'Keefe (Lutherville, Md.), and Eric Bihlear (Tabernacle, N.J.) each added two shots.

Junior Jonathan Rouse (New Freedom, Pa.) recorded eight saves in 90 minutes played for the Blue and Gold's second straight victory.

The Pride will be back in action on Saturday when they host Gwynedd Mercy at 7 p.m. at Leslie C. Quick Stadium. The game will serve as the men's soccer annual "Friends of Jaclyn" night.
