Widener to Run Mario Carpino’s Lemonade Stand at Upcoming Home Games

Widener men's soccer team will be running Mario Carpino's Lemonade Stand at upcoming home games over the next two weeks.

The stand will run Thursday, April 17 during baseball's game against Elizabethtown at 3:30, softball doubleheader vs. Hood at 4:00 pm and women's lacrosse's game vs. Stevenson at 7:00 pm.  It also will run during the Widener Invitational Track & Field Meet on Friday, April 18 and during the men's lacrosse game April 26 vs. Elizabethtown at 1:00 pm.

Mario, age 10, was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 4.  He was named team captain for a Widener game in 2011 and gave the men his words of wisdom that we should all try our best and never give up no matter what.

Mario was adopted by the team through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation and the stand is run through Alex's Lemonade Stand.  The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation's mission is to improve the quality of life for children battling pediatric brain tumors.  The organization has over 350 children placed on over 30 different types of sports teams in 48 states.
