Women's Basketball Falls, 70-59, at Lebanon Valley

Widener held a first-half lead, but fell to Commonwealth Conference frontrunner Lebanon Valley 70-59 on Wednesday night in Annville, PA. 
 
Widener (10-8, 5-6 CC) led by as many as 16 points in the first half as senior Jen Egee (Ridley Park, PA) scored 13 points and picked up five rebounds.  At halftime, Widener held a 36-32 lead by shooting 50 percent from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line. 
 
Eight minutes into the second half of play, Lebanon Valley's guard Caitlin Bach hit a jumper to go up 45-43, establishing a lead that Widener would not be unable to overcome. 
 
Egee finished with 21 points on 7-of-18 shooting and six rebounds.  She continues to lead the conference with 22.5 points per game and 56 made 3-pointers. 
 
Contributing on both sides of the court, junior Courtney Colella (Cinnaminson, NJ) scored eight points on 3-of-4 from the field and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.  Colella also led the team with four assists and a season-high four blocks. 
 
Senior guard Joanna Persiano (Ventnor, NJ) went 4-of-7 from beyond the arc to score 16 points in 31 minutes.  Junior Kristina Reiter (Sewell, NJ) scored six points, to go with two assists and three rebounds in playing all 40 minutes. 
 
Sophomore starter Brianna Wylie (Mount Laurel, NJ) went 3-of-3 from the field for six points, along with six rebounds, one block and one steal. 
 
Standing first place in the conference, Lebanon Valley (15-3, 9-2) scored 32 points off the bench compared to Widener's two.  The Dutchmen were led by Bridget Rothert with 15 points, Bach with 12 and Taylor Embrell with 10.  Peyton Carper led with five assists and Alyssa Cirucci managed four steals. 
 
Widener is back in action Saturday against Lycoming in Williamsport, PA.  The women begin at 1:00 pm and men follow at 3:00 pm.
