Boxscore
(box score)

Despite scoring the game's initial goal, Widener could not remain undefeated as it allowed three first-half markers in a 4-2 loss to Ursinus at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

The Pride (2-1) needed just 81 seconds to open the scoring, thanks to the long throw-in ability of sophomore Eric Bihlear (Tabernacle, NJ). From the left sideline, Bihlear launched one that hit off the head of a Bears defender before sophomore Tori Remondelli (Point Pleasant, NJ) headed it inside the left post.

Ursinus (1-1) would not be upset for long. Noah Kimelhem got a great through ball from Charles Brodsky in the seventh minute and deposited one inside the left post for a 1-1 draw.

Ryan Molyneaux fired home a 30-yard shot inside the right post in the 36th minute and Hans Seri headed home a throw-in from Matt Cioeta with 1:14 left in the half for a 3-1 Ursinus lead.

Widener looked to gain the early edge in the second half, but it was Ursinus who countered and got a three-goal lead. Ryan Butler had the ball 25 yards from net and launched an unexpected shot that crept inside the left post for a 4-1 contest.

Widener got one back in the 79th minute on a bizarre play. Junior Troy Czapor (Richboro, PA) eluded back-up goalkeeper Daniel Cartwright just outside the box and headed towards the net. Cartwright, who played all of 4:49, tackled Czapor to earn a direct red card. Remondelli took advantage of the free kick by scoring for his team-leading third goal of the season and second career multi-goal contest.

Senior Jakub Valdner (Bratislava, Slovakia) made seven saves and Remondelli attempted four shots for the Pride.

Ryan Murphy came up with four saves over 85 minutes and Molyneaux had four shots for the Bears, who closed with a 15-11 shots edge.

Widener is on the road Saturday at Marywood, starting at 4:00 pm.
