Swimming Earns Two Victories Over Albright

Widener's women's swimming team made it three straight wins with a 106-91 triumph over Albright, and the men recorded a 109-96 victory at Schwartz Center.
 
The women broke two school records and had three swimmers win three races each, including two freshmen. Freshmen Laura Harris (Phoenix, MD) and Laura Farrar (Longmont, CO), as well as sophomore Kelsey Lake (Ijamsville, MD), all notched three victories for the Pride (3-1).
 
The trio, along with freshman Carli Rapp (Reading, PA), captured the 400-yard medley relay in 4:07.19 for the third consecutive meet, breaking their own school record of 4:09.30.
 
Harris won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.50 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 53.29, breaking her own school record of 53.67.  She has now won three races in three straight meets.
 
Farrar grabbed the 200-yard IM in 2:16.27 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:32.06. Lake took the 200-yard freestyle in 1:58.81 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:15.63.
 
Freshman Colleen Tighe (Linwood, NJ) captured two events, taking the 500-yard freestyle in 5:29.32 and the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:12.98. Junior Carlee Moir (Broomall, PA) won the 200-yard butterfly, stopping the clock in 2:24.63.
 
Junior Charlie Schindler (Pasadena, MD) took the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:18.11 for the men (2-2). Sophomore Michael Roth (Columbia, MD) grabbed the 200-yard butterfly in 2:05.97, and freshman Joseph Matarazzo (Drexel Hill, PA) captured the 50-yard freestyle in 22.26 seconds.
 
The men's 400-yard medley team was also victorious, stopping the clock in 3:42.71. The team included freshman Michael Lawley (Philadelphia, PA), senior Steve Goss (Allentown, PA), sophomore Nick Moore (Philadelphia, PA) and senior Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA).
 
Widener next Saturday, November 13 hosts FDU-Florham for a Middle Atlantic Conference meet at 1:00 pm.
