Rayne Reber's Career-High 24 Points Lifts Women's Basketball to 69-56 Victory Over Lycoming

1/26/08 -- Sophomore Rayne Reber (Pottstown, PA) scored a career-high 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting for Widener, which won for the third time in four games with a 69-56 Commonwealth Conference victory over Lycoming at Schwartz Center.

Widener (9-8, 1-1 CC) pulled away with a 17-4 run spanning six minutes for a 61-43 cushion with 6:37 remaining. Reber and freshman Kylie Walton (Columbus, NJ) each scored five points in that time with freshman Emily Brill (Drexel Hill, PA) netting three.

The Pride shot a blistering 58 percent (14-of-24) from the floor in the second half and held the Lady Warriors (10-6, 1-1) to a mere 19 percent (6-of-31). The visitors total included just 2-of-12 from 3-point range.

Reber's total bests her 22 points against King's on December 8. She shot 3-of-4 from 3-point range today over 32 minutes and scored in double figures for the ninth time this season.

Brill had 11 points and a season-high nine rebounds off the bench with junior Megan Sipple (Boothwyn, PA) contributing 10 points and three steals. Widener shot 44 percent (25-of-57) overall and was 7-of-14 from beyond the arc.

Andrea Cooper scored 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting, Jessica Nabholz had 12 points and nine rebounds, and Rebecca Leid grabbed eight rebounds for Lycoming. The Lady Warriors hit just 33 percent (18-of-55) from the floor and 4-of-21 from 3-point range.

Widener next Wednesday visits Lebanon Valley as part of a doubleheader with the men's team. The women's contest in Annville, PA begins at 6:00 pm, followed by the men's game at 8:00 pm.
