Todd Wawrousek is in his third season at the helm of the women's soccer program at Widener.
Wawrousek was the women’s soccer coach for 17 seasons (1990-2006) at Gettysburg, leading the squad in its greatest run in school history. He led the Bullets to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, two ECAC Tournament trips and five Centennial Conference titles while compiling a 195-108-19 mark during his tenure. In addition, he coached eight All-Americans, three Academic All-Americans and six Centennial Conference Players of the Year during that stretch. Furthermore, he was a three-time regional coach of the year as well as the 1992 Centennial Conference Coach of the Year.
Along with the aforementioned academic success, Wawrousek’s teams consistently notched between a 3.0-3.35 team grade point average during his time at Gettysburg. That trend has continued at Widener, as the Pride recently registered a 3.546 team GPA during the 2015 fall semester before posting a 3.478 team mark in the spring of 2016. Widener has also had a combined 32 selections on the Middle Atlantic Conference Academic Honor Roll over the past two years, and all-conference goalkeeper Olivia Pfautz made the Academic All-MAC squad this past fall.
In addition to piloting a historic run at Gettysburg, Wawrousek was also an assistant coach for Vancouver Whitecaps FC of the United Soccer League. He handled all first-team logistics, had a hand in the selection of new players on a global level, helped with video analysis, worked with community and corporate organizations, and helped in speaking engagements. The squad won the USL First Division North America title in 2008, made the final in 2009 and advanced to the quarterfinals in 2007.
Wawrousek’s involvement also included being the director of coaching for the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer beginning in 2012, which included managing a staff of 12 coaches in a training program designed for players ages 9-13. He was also a staff coach for the Pennsylvania Classic Football Club since 2010, coaching multiple teams on the academy and elite level. Other stints included coaching the FC Delco Force in Downingtown from 1993-97, serving as an Olympic Development Program (ODP) coach from 1990-95 and being an assistant with the Hershey Wildcats football club from 1997-2001.
Wawrousek, who served 11 years on the NSCAA All-America Committee and seven on the NSCAA Rating Committee, received his bachelor’s degree in education from Millersville in 1987 and his master’s in the same discipline from Alfred in 1990. He currently resides in Lancaster, Pa. with his wife, Bea, and children, Mickayla and Austin.
