Widener University Athletics

Mike Heath is in his fifth season as Widener’s assistant coach. His versatility in 2009 will be called upon again as he returns to lead the running backs. Previously, Health coached the running backs (2005 ECAC Bowl champs – K. Prothro MAC Rookie of the Year), the offensive line (2006 ECAC Bowl champs, 2007 MAC champs – M. Fagnani two years first team All-MAC) and the wide receivers (2008). Prior to Widener, Heath coached 13 years at Springfield High School, the last five as head coach. Springfield won the 1994 Central League title and helped many players ascend to the college ranks. He also volunteered for several years as a coach in the Hero Bowl (DelCo All-Star Game). Before coming to Springfield, Heath coached one year in the North Penn School District and played collegiately at Ursinus. Heath continues to teach Health and Physical Education at Springfield HS, where he is the Department Chair and Curriculum Coordinator of Health and Physical Education for the Springfield School District. A resident of Souderton PA, Heath lives with his wife Tara and his daughter Kylie.
