Marc Saldana enters his sixth season on the Widener football coaching staff in 2025-26 and currently serves as the Pride's Quarterbacks Coach and Passing Game Coordinator. Saldana brings more than two decades of coaching experience spanning the collegiate, professional, indoor, and international football ranks.
Since arriving at Widener in 2020, Saldana has played a key role in developing the Pride offense. Working closely with the offensive coordinator, he oversees quarterback development, passing game installation, film study, and game planning. Under his guidance, Widener led the Middle Atlantic Conference in both scoring offense and passing offense in two of his first four seasons with the program. He has coached multiple All-MAC quarterbacks, including Second Team and Honorable Mention selections. Saldana has also assisted with special teams operations, working with snappers, holders, and kickers, including helping develop a first-team All-MAC kicker and conference Rookie of the Year.
In the summer of 2025, Saldana was selected as a Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellow with the National Football League's Kansas City Chiefs. During his fellowship, he worked directly with the Chiefs' quarterbacks and offensive staff, assisting with meetings, installations, player evaluations, depth chart preparation, and preseason game planning. He also participated in the team's preseason contest against the Arizona Cardinals.
Prior to Widener, Saldana spent three seasons at Wesley College, coaching quarterbacks, wide receivers, and tight ends from 2017-20. While at Wesley, he helped the Wolverines lead the NJAC in passing offense during each of his four seasons with the program. He coached numerous all-conference performers and contributed in multiple roles, including scout defense coordinator, special teams assistant, recruiter, and offensive signal caller.
Saldana's coaching résumé also includes extensive professional and international experience. He served as offensive coordinator for several indoor football organizations, including the Katy Ruff Riders, Katy Copperheads, Beaumont Drillers, and Lubbock Gunslingers, where he managed offensive game planning, quarterback development, play calling, and player personnel operations. He later brought his offensive expertise overseas, serving as offensive coordinator for the Gladiatori Roma, A1 Rangers, and East City Giants in Europe, where he coordinated offenses and player development programs while working with multilingual rosters.
A native of Texas, Saldana earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Texas Tech University. He was a quarterback for the Red Raiders from 1994-96 and is Air Raid Certified.
Saldana's recruiting territories include Lancaster County, Chester County, York County, Texas, Florida, and Georgia. He also founded Widener Football's first golf tournament fundraiser and continues to play an integral role in the program's recruiting, player development, and offensive strategy efforts.
