Robin Baxter is in her sixth year as head coach of Widener’s women’s lacrosse team. The squad has made great strides the last few seasons and that will only continue this year as it looks for its first conference title.
The squad went 9-8 last season with a memorable three-game winning streak to end the campaign and give plenty of reason for optimism in 2012.
Widener in 2010 went 11-7 to tie the school record for most victories. In closing tied for fourth in the Middle Atlantic Conference, the Pride notched a five-game winning streak early in the season and secured their first home conference tournament game since 2005.
The Pride are 28-24 over the last three years competing in one of the toughest conferences in Division III. The squad returns 12 letterwinners and that stability will prove vital for Baxter’s charge.
In addition to her duties with the lacrosse program, Baxter serves as an advisor for Widener’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and sits on the board for Widener’s Sport Management program.
Baxter holds a M.S. in Sport Management from Neumann University and graduated magna cum laude from Plymouth State University in 2002 with a B.S. in Physical Education: Fitness and Rehabilitation. She posted a distinguished four-year playing career at Plymouth State, setting the school’s all-time points and assists records in lacrosse, as well as earning numerous accolades and honors in field hockey and lacrosse.
Also active as a student in Plymouth State’s SAAC program, Baxter was a participant in the 2000 NCAA Leadership Conference and in 2002 was presented the John C. Foley Leadership Award by the school.
Baxter married her husband, Jeff, in May 2007. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Campbell, in August 2009.
