BY THE NUMBERS
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles got their bats going in the top of the first inning, making it a 3-0 game after an RBI single and a two run double. Eastern took a 4-0 lead in the top of the second after another RBI single. After a quiet third and fourth inning from both offenses, the Eagles once again added on to their lead in the top of the fifth. A wild pitch followed by an RBI single gave Eastern a commanding 6-0 lead. The Pride threatened in the bottom of the fifth, loading the bases with one out but were unable to push any across.
- The Eagles would add one in the sixth after a throwing error and three in the seventh after two RBI singles and an RBI double, bringing their lead to 10-0. In the top of the eighth, the Eagles continued to build on their lead, hitting a two-run home run to go up 12-0. Despite the score, the Pride battled in the bottom of the ninth as Mark Selverian blasted a solo home run to left center field to give the Pride their first run of the day. Unfortunately, that is all the Pride would get as their winning streak would come to an end by a final score of 12-1.
