HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
  • Messiah jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, putting six runs on the board. The scoring was highlighted by a pair of RBI walks, a sacrifice fly, and an RBI double from the Falcons. Another RBI walk in the second inning extended Messiah's lead to 7-0. Widener's bats came alive in the fourth inning to cut into the deficit. Brandon Yoder sparked the offense by ripping an RBI double to left field, bringing home Kevin Bukowski for the Pride's first run. Shortly after, Sean Burke delivered a clutch two-run single up the middle that scored both Brendan Raven and Yoder, making the score 7-3.

  • Messiah added a run in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly to extend their lead. In the sixth, the Falcons scored two more runs on an RBI double and a fielder's choice. Widener continued to fight and responded in the bottom of the sixth. Sean Burke struck again, hitting an RBI double down the right-field line to score Brandon Yoder, bringing the score to 10-4. However, Messiah broke the game open in the final frame with an eight-run rally. The seventh-inning surge was capped off by a pinch-hit grand slam to right field, bringing the final score to 18-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
  • The game began as a pitcher's duel, with both teams kept off the scoreboard through the first two innings. The Falcons broke the deadlock in the top of the third, taking a 1-0 lead on a fielder's choice. Widener answered in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull ahead. Brendan Raven ignited the rally with a lead off walk, and Brandon Yoder immediately drove him home with a triple to right-center field to tie the game at 1-1. Shortly after, Sean Burke hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Yoder to cross the plate, giving the Pride a 2-1 advantage.

  • The lead shifted back to the Falcons in the top of the fifth after a two-run home run put them up 3-2. However, the Pride responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning. After Chris McKenna was hit by a pitch, Kevin Bukowski launched a two-run home run to right field, reclaiming a 4-3 lead for Widener. Widener extended the lead in the sixth inning when Ryan Madden scored on a balk to make it 5-3. The Pride added two insurance runs in the eighth as Sean Burke scored on a passed ball, followed by an RBI single from Ryan Bauerle that brought home Madden. The Widener bullpen remained perfect the rest of the way, with Ethan Lytle securing the final three outs to clinch the conference win by a final score of 7-3.
