Widener Athletics to Host National Girls and Women in Sport Day

CHESTER, Pa. – Widner Athletics is proud to host National Girls and Women in Sport Day on Wednesday, February 4 at the women's basketball game against Eastern at 6 p.m.
 
This year's National Girls and Women in Sport Day is set for Wednesday, February 4 where Widener women's basketball will face off against MAC Commonwealth opponent Eastern.
 
The Pride enters the contest with a 15-4 (6-2 MAC Commonwealth) record while holding the second spot in conference rankings. The Eagles fly into the Schwartz Athletic Center with a 7-12 (2-6 MAC Commonwealth) record. 
 
On the Pride's offensive side, Lindsay Kutz, a recent member of the 1k club, commands the offense with 14.5 points per game and 8-1 rebounds per game. Joining Kutz is sophomore Riley Stackhouse with 12.4 points per game. The defense shows senior Avalynn Baer recording 1.3 steals a game while Jayla Daniels tallies 40 steals this season.
 
The Eagles offense is run through Jeriyah Johnson who averages 14.8 points per game alongside Adriana Summersett who holds 9.7 points per game. Their defense has allowed 62.6 points per game.
 
This year Widener Athletics will welcome over 40 girls from Ridley ABA 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade teams, Ridley 3rd and 4th grade All-Star teams, and Our Lady of Angels CYO 3rd and 4th grade teams to join Widener student-athletes in halftime fun. Throughout the contest, every team will sport Widener foam fingers to cheer on the Pride.
