Bright Wraps Up Season with 18 Points in Late Win Over Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Widener men's basketball concludes the regular season with a buzzer beater win over Stevenson from senior Myles Bright.
 
The 60-58 win concludes the Pride season with 8-17 regular season and 5-9 conference record.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Myles Bright would lead in his final game with 18 points and six boards.
  • Defensively, Jay-Nelly Reyes held six steals while scoring 11 points.
  • Off the bench, Jacob Aryee led with 14.
  • The Pride shot 39.7% from the floor, 30% from three, and saw 28 points in the paint.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pride opened hot with a Reyes triple and steal before Bright hit a jumper within the first minute. Ethan Dodson put in a good layup at 17:17. A quiet stretch of the first half would be ended with a Dylan Schlatter steal and an Aryee fastbreak layup to take a 9-7 lead. Aryee's layup would start a Pride run with Schlatter putting in a pair from the charity stripe while Emmet Kane put in a layup and And-1 to head into a media timeout. The Mustangs would fight back and take a 20-16 lead before Bright hit one from the stripe. A triple from Bright tied the game at 22 while Aryee's triple took the lead and Reyes' extended it. The Pride would head into half up 31-29 after a last second triple from Reyes.
     
  • Three minutes into the second would see the first Pride points with a Dodson jumper. Bright put in a layup to take a 35-32. Schlatter picked up a block to give Aryee a fastbreak layup at 14:59. Namisse Musonge saw his first points at 12:31 with a Matt Johnson assist. The Mustangs would take a 10-0 run before TJ Bryson got sent to the charity stripe. Reyes' poked a steal to give Bright a tipin layup to cut the deficit to seven. With 6:01 left, Dodson put in a layup to start a Pride run. Reyes and Aryee grabbed a steal while Aryee slammed in a dunk with 4:58. A triple from Aryee at 2:41 would give the Pride a 54-53 lead. The Mustangs would tie the game at 56 before Bright picked up a steal and two from the stripe. With the game tied at 58, Bright's jumper with 0:03 seconds would give the Pride a final game win.
