Karly Bervinchak Has a Day as Pride Roll Past Drew, 6–1

CHESTER, Pa. - Widener rolls to a 6–1 victory over Drew behind a four-goal outing from Karly Bervinchak

The Pride improve to 3-2 on the season and remain 0-0 in conference play.  

BY THE NUMBERS  

  • The Pride registerd 18 shots.  

HOW IT HAPPENED  

  • Widener struck early, with Karly Bervinchak scoring twice in the first six minutes to put the Pride up 2–0. The Pride finished the quarter with four shots and two goals, while goalkeeper Fithian tallied three saves to keep Drew off the board despite multiple penalty corner chances. 

  • In the second, the Pride extended its lead as Karly Bervinchak netted her third goal of the day to make it 3–0 before Quartapella added another late in the frame for a 4–0 advantage. The Pride piled up five shots in the quarter, with Armstrong and Eleanor Gieser testing Drew's keeper. On the other end, Fithian collected three more saves, shutting down the Rangers' attempts to close the gap. 

  • In the third, Karly Bervinchak struck again for her fourth goal of the afternoon, pushing her season total to six. The Pride's attack stayed relentless, generating six shots and four penalty corners, with looks from Armstrong and Kendall Blankenship testing the Rangers' defense. Meanwhile, Fithian stood strong with two saves, keeping the Rangers off the board as the Pride carried a commanding advantage into the final frame. 

  • Widener capped its dominant performance in the fourth when Armstrong converted a penalty stroke, marking her first goal of the season and the Pride's sixth of the game. The offense continued to pressure the Rangers with two more shots and a penalty corner, while the defense held strong behind a save from substitute goalkeeper Gwen Yeager. The Rangers broke through late with a lone goal in the closing minutes, but the Pride closed out a commanding 6–1 victory.
