Men’s Track and Field Place Fourth at MAC Championships

Pride claim nine All-Conference

YORK, Pa. – A successful weekend on the track concludes with nine all-conference selections as Widener Men's Track and Field place fourth overall at MAC Championships.
 
The Pride scored 92 total team points across the three days.
 
ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

1st Team 3rd Team DAY 1 – THURSDAY (23 Total Points | 3rd Place)
 
The Pride opened the meet in the hammer throw where Isaac Almoney took first overall with a 60.60-meter mark. John Kodack took seventh with a 48.17-meter throw.
 
In the pole vault, Sean Gizzi jumped to a 4.27-meter height to place fourth.
 
On the track, the 4x800 relay placed ninth. Vincent Brown, Sean Derfler, Daniel Murphy, and David Johnson ran to a 8:11.02.
 
The 10k featured Tom Flear who placed third while clocking a 31.42.56.
 
DAY 2 – FRIDAY (50 Total Points | 3rd Place)
 
Matayo McGraw took gold in the triple jump as he marked a 2.00-meter height to move into the top 50 in the nation.
 
In the long jump, Jacob Grossman marked a 7.05-meter distance. McGraw marked a 6.52-meter jump.
 
Almoney threw a 43.46-meter throw in the discus.
 
Joe Nescio's steeplechase would place third overall as he ran to a 9:37.89.
 
Samuel Knowles would sprint to a 49.80 to qualify for finals on Saturday. Elijah Celestin clocked a 50.72.
 
Ndirangu would qualify for finals in the 100-meter dash with a 10.96.
 
Johnson's 800-meter would place 10th overall with a 1:59.21. Johnson's weekend continued in the 400-meter hurdles as he would clock a 57.66 for a 12th place finish.
 
In the 200-meter dash, Knowles placed third in prelims with a 22.11 to qualify for finals. 
 
DAY 3 – SATURDAY (92 Total Points | 4th Place)
 
Grossman, Troy Wallace, Samuel Knowles, and Erastus Ndirangu ran to a 42.73 in the 4x100 relay. 
 
Almoney took fifth in the shot put with a distance of 14.36-meter mark. David Furhman threw a 11.80-meter distance in his attempts.
 
McGraw took gold in the triple jump as he marked a 15.25-meter distance.
 
Derfler's 1500-meter run showed a 4:12.39.
 
Following Knowles prelims, his final would show a gold with a 47.19.
 
Ndirangu's 100-meter dash finals showed a 10.89 for a fifth overall. 
 
Knowles final individual event showed a third overall finish in the 200-meter dash as he clocked a 21.71.
 
Flear ended his weekend with a 15:27.34 in the 5000-meter run to place 11th. Nescio's career came to a close with a 15:35.63.
 
The men's 4x400 relay took third overall as Brion McNear, Celestin, Derek Rudd, and Knowles clocked a 3:18.36 just missing a silver.

Widener takes a weekend off before the Pride host their annual Final Qualifer on Monday, May 12.
