CHESTER,Pa. – Day two of the annual Tip-Off Classic for Autism Awareness concludes in an intense matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The 94-74 loss moves the Pride to 1-1 after opening weekend.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Senior Matt Johnson led with 16 points.
- Off the bench Ethan Dodson put in nine with four rebounds.
- Defensively Kori Segich snagged nine rebounds.
- The Pride shot 31.9% from the floor and saw 40 points in the paint with 23 points off the bench.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A slow start from the Pride would begin with the first points coming at 17:23 from Emmett Kane. Dodson put in a pair of shots from the line at 15:27 to make the score 12-4 Knights. Keith Gee saw a block and a rebound after to start a short run. Gee put in a layup and drew an And 1. Dodson put in layup at 12:50 to cut the deficit to seven while a defensive rebound from Johnson went into a layup. The Pride inched back with a Johnson layup, a steal from Kori Segich, a Myles Bright layup, and a tipin from Kane to bring the game to three. Connor Schumacher saw his first points at 6:22 off a Segich assist. Bright brought the game within one with a good layup while Johnson put in a layup to take the lead. Off the bench, TJ Bryson extended the lead to 36-33. The Pride would head into half tied at 38.
- Out of half, Jacob Aryee hit the first points while Segich hit a layup to extend the lead to 42-38. A pair of shots from the charity stripe from Aryee, Bright, and Kane made the score 47-41. The Pride offense became quiet as the Knights took an 11-2 run before Dodson broke the point swing. The Knights led 52-49 with 12:45 left. Bright drained a triple at 10:00 before Johnson put in a pair from the line and Dodson snagged a fastbreak layup. A back-and-forth stretch occurred with Gee making two from the line to dig into the deficit. The Knight's offense erupted to end the game 94-74.
